Pre stage (starting of project toy hauler)
Found this on Craigslist:
Late 80's 40' park model 5th wheel camper. It was gutted and someone cut a 7'x7' hole in the back...
We saw potential! So we bought it for $200 and towed it home (hoping like heck it would all stay together!)

7/9 $60
Stage 1 (removing the shell)
After looking the 'camper' (it's a stretch to call it this) over for a day we realize this rig is to far gone to build back up so its decided to strip it down to frame or flooring. We tow it to the dump and armed with sawsalls, baldes, batteries, hammers and 2 guys. It takes us about one and half hours and we have it stripped. pay $60 and drive home with a 5th wheel frame that has 2 decks an upper 9.5' deck and a lower 30' deck. (this was more to make sure my wife would NOT be pissed when she saw it!) Here is how it sat for almost 2 months as we had a busy summer.

Stage 2 $100 (strip off rotten wood and get ready for decking)
Since there had been a 7x7 hole in the back of this thing for a LONG time the back 6' of wood was needing replaced. We took it back 8' and tied into good material.
Lots of debris!

Stage 3 $500 (installing decking, screws and lights)
Well a trip to Home depot and we score!! Got 12 4'x8' sheeps of 1 1/8" tounge and groove quality plywood! (That should hold a Jeep or 3) We redeck and screw down all the new material! WOW it's starting to take shape! This thing might actually haul a wheeler!!

looks good. is the upper deck area strong enough to hold the loads you will be putting on it.it looks really lightly built compared to the normal 5th wheel open deck trailer.
it would be nice to find a smaller pop up trailer and mount it on the upper deck for a sleeping area when you take the jeeps out and they can be gotten pretty cheap.

It's still doing well ... We used it a few times last summer. It currently has 2 69 Mustangs sitting on the lower deck.
I don't have a truck with a 5th wheel set up, so it doing what it does!

Sorry man not even thinking of selling it ... as with other items of mine, I have some ideas for that ol girl!
Besides IF I did ever sell it it'd have to be years AFTER I had Tony delete this thread ... you guys know how much I have into this thing! You can't even buy a JUNK trailer for this amount! lol
Keep your eyes peeled as there are lots of old trailers like this around and it only took about a week end of time to get it from that to this. (IF all the work would have been done at the same time, I mean)

yeah i have been looking pretty hard but the only trailer frames i have found were small 5" c channel frames that were only 30 foot bumper pulls and they would be too weak for two trucks. i need to find something fast though.
