After over a year of looking I went to AK Tent & Tarp and picked up a 10'x10' Arctic Oven. I would like to get something in the works. As long as the snow is scarce it would be cool to do an easy trip. Doesn't have to be next weekend but wanted to see if there was much intr:cheers2:est.
This is looking to be on Nov 28-29 Sat/Sun possible overnighter or day trip to Zero Lake trail. Please let us know if you are interested in going even if its just a day trip on Saturday. The trail is currently really minor and would be a nice ride!

<--- interested. oooohhhh, you know what would be pretty cool to run this time of year? And do an overnighter?...... Zero Lake. We can try and make it to Willow Hatcher pass, that would be a good overnighter.

Yea, thats kinda what I was looking to get together. I spent the weekend packing the Bronco for winter camping. I would like to get out and test everything while the weather decides whether it's late fall or early winter.
if i know a date i can see if we can come.

I think that the weekend of the 21st will work. I am up for sugestions. I was thinking Eska or Kings River. Mabey up to Ruby Lake would be a mild run with a decent area to camp. Or as Tony said a longer trip with a stop for the night?

I think the more time we can traverse at lower elevations, the better it will be. The prob with King River and Eska, is that you're at the end of the trail in about 2-3 hours. Zero Lake is a longer trail, and stays at a lower elevation longer. It gradually starts increasing in elevation, and we could get a good full day of wheeling in it going one way, camp, then wheel out.. but again, just a suggestion if we're gunna do the camping thing.

Sounds good. So should we make that the offical destination? On the weekend of the 21st? Wonder how many of us are set up for overnighters? Would be cool to get a few more rigs.:cornut:

I know I am... but I don't know about others. If they bring a shovel, they can build a snow cave to sleep in

I can, but I don't know for certain if I am even going yet. I'm waiting on bushings, and for as cold as its been out, I'm going to have to really motivate myself to do that outside...:nonod:

Planning an overnighter (Or a day trip if you can't stay the night) up Zero Lake over to Hatcher Pass. Depending on snow depth, we should be able to get pretty close.
How about meet up at Pittman Holiday at around 11AM Sat Morning. Run the trail as far as we can, camp, and then head back out Sunday early morning.
Bring gear for the conditions. It will prob be cold, so make sure you have the basics.. hats/gloves/boots/ working heater in your rig hopefully.
I still do not know if I am going or not, but I will know by mid next week.

New plans for this trip. We are trying to get an overnighter in before the snow gets too deep, and the temps get too low.
This weekend, we'll try and leave Sat afternoon (Temps depending), go as far as we can, camp, and head out Sunday.
If the temps are too cold on Saturday, we'll just make it a day trip?

Well, if enough people are interested in going, we'll keep it on. But if no one really wants to go, then we'll scrap it and try for another weekend... no biggie. I still haven't messed with my bushings yet so.... :mad2:

Sounds good. I still want to keep the idea kicking around. Relly wanted to get out like that sometime this month but things seem to be working against me.:mad5:
If we could get an idea of who is interested in going even if its a day trip or overnighter that would be great. I could highjack the thread and track it and post a list of names.:grouphug:

I am still trying to make this trip work. Have to talk with the family about turkey day plans. How many people would stay the night? It would be good if a few more did. Don't know if I will put the energy into a day trip in the Bronco. Prob just take wheelers. Is there any place to park the truck/trailer up there?

Yeah, at the beginning of the road there is a spot to park trailers. I have no idea who all is going right now... but I was able to get bushings, I just need to "Make" them work... :mad2:
We'll see about the overnight thing. I'm sure Kaylene is going to want to be shopping this weekend, so I may not be able to.

Its not looking good boys... roads are pretty shitty right now, esp around my house... not lookin real good for haulin, or even a wide ass tire right now...
I barely made it out of my driveway WITHOUT anything in tow.... :ack2:
I will evaluate the situ further in the morning, and determine whether or not I'm even going.

I'm all but loaded up right now... if the temps stay warm enough, hopefully the roads will atleast melt down to where its just wet... but right now, its very icey on KGB.. and I'm sure Vine is worse.
I can't even load my rig in the driveway, I have to do it up on the road... :sosp:
Either way, as of now I'm in... but if it gets cold tonight, i'll prob be out.... :nono:

Well put some weight on that rear end and go!!! lol Post up as soon as you know cause I have the wheelers loaded. I was trying to get out of the driveway around 8:30 to make it to the meeting spot so let me know.
Looks like myself, wife, dad, tim, and maybe a few others are taking the sleds up outta Houston. We will probably hit the trail from the firehouse side. As of now that looks to be our plan. We might run into you if your going as far as the connection to the Herning Trail trail. We are meeting up at 10am at Pratter Lake
