here is a copy and paste of my build for the 85 so far so all can see how far its come ..

it has been rebuilt a few times in past 5 yrs ive had it here in wasilla i originally traded the truck with a friend for a dirt bike i had .

Hi guys ,

long time no see or talk with ... well i have been stripping down the 85 toy mini pick-up for trail truck build up ..

i had already built my front winch bumper and sliders ,now for the flat bed .

the bed was rusting really bad to the point of no return and find another one in this state better than mine was impossible ..

the bed was in bad shape but we ended up using the bed floor to rebuild a 67 cj-5 floor looked like factory when we were done ..

so now i'm trying my luck at building my own bed and bending tube .

here is what i have for materials so far .
3/4 x 10 ft of schedule 40 poop pipe 100 ft of it ! for under $30
1.250 x10 ft scedule 40
2x3x .125 x10 ft
and .250 plate
8 poly body bushings from performance

when i started this project i didnt have the super nice metal cutting tools i have now but the frame is made of 2x3 tube steel out of polaris 4 wheeler crates ..

the rear of the frame was in real bad shape so i ended cutting off about a foot of the rear and boxing it in with the same 2x3 box tube fit like a glove .

i also boxed the frame in some questionable spots on the frame it took 3 days with a wire brush and flapper wheel to get this workable ..http://img79.imageshack.us/img79/350/frame028wy.jpg

start of the base of my bed with the 2x3 ..
http://img79.imageshack.us/img79/3200/bed014sy.jpg
at the time all i had was a harbor freight kink o-matic .. it sucked anything over 30* it ate the tube so i would sart the bend far as i could and weld one end and use ratchet straps to get it far as i could to tack it in place ..boy im glad i got the 105 hd protools bender now lol

http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/567/pipe016vb.jpg

making the beginning of my fenders getting the height was tough i cut these off 2 or 3 times till i got it where i was happy ..

http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/4743/pipe036ko.jpg

one of my 1st tries before i cut it all off and tried again ..

now ive stepped up in welders and the new sp135 plus does much better http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/9374/pipe098nq.jpg

one of the 1st tries making the light bar the kink omatic just didnt cut it i had just finally gave in and ordered the bender this killed me

http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/9224/flatbed022aj.jpg

the bed was made out of sheets of aluminum from air plane skid racks the tie downs were from the same sheet ..

after a great long summer of wheeling with the 35's i blew out the bottom end and had to pull it i had a spare motor i was going to swap in ..this is my old motor .

http://www.arcticoffroad.com/forum/gallery/files/3/7/0/toy_new_engine001.jpg

not all 22rs are the same this one was from a older 83 and the motor was hosed worse than the motor i took out ..but it was a freebie so now im looking for a replacement

http://www.arcticoffroad.com/forum/gallery/files/3/7/0/toy_new_engine003.jpg

then i figured it was cheaper to buy a whole truck that ran and swap over the motor rather than buying a crate motor and i wasnt going chevy ..one its a major pita to get the distributor to clear the fire wall and 2 i dont do chevy ..

so i found a 92 eddie bauer bronco with a running 351 theft recovery ..

http://www.arcticoffroad.com/forum/gallery/files/3/7/0/351_windsor_build_for_85_yota002.jpg

ripped the efi off and put a eldelbrok performer intake on and a holley 670 truck advenger .. and a chevy hei

http://www.arcticoffroad.com/forum/gallery/files/3/7/0/351_windsor_build_for_85_yota003.jpg

looking at this right now is painful hard to believe im doing this same pic again in my garage ..

one of the most expensive things i did on this truck was buy those march performance brackets but it was functional got the alternator up nice and high and power steering up and away from the frame its super tight in there .
http://www.arcticoffroad.com/forum/gallery/files/3/7/0/85_toy_new_heart002.jpg

i also added a tcase ebrake because i had remove the stock one to make room for the v-8 the cam and assembly for the original comes out the firwall right where the head sits on the v-8

http://www.arcticoffroad.com/forum/gallery/files/3/7/0/yota008.jpg

i made the clamps out of old dana 44 carrier bearing mains lol

http://www.arcticoffroad.com/forum/gallery/files/3/7/0/yota006.jpg

all wired up
http://www.arcticoffroad.com/forum/gallery/files/3/7/0/yota002.jpg

decided to build a tire carrier using my new tube bender out of 1.250 scd 40 and spring bushings and scout shackles ..

i found a good deal from ryan for his 39.5 tsls and fit with the new lift ..totally different wheeling ..
i ended up breaking my 3rd member so i swapped them out for v-6 4.88 welded the rear and put a lock right up front .

http://www.arcticoffroad.com/forum/gallery/files/3/7/0/boys001.jpg

also swapped out the stock 4 bolt knuckles for 6 bolt and highsteer fj80 ends i alsolater on added ram assist ..

i got her fired up today still need to address the brakes and finish bleeding the coolant ..it takes 7 gallons ..

and still have not let her run more than 2 minutes at a time .. it needs to be run for 30 minutes at 1500 rpm to break in the cam then i can change the oil and let her go mudding ..

need to figure out the brakes .. i have a spare booster and master cyl i saved from a truck i salvaged ....

well this week had been really busy for me on the buggy .. i got alot done .

one good thing about this 2.0 build is i knew what i need to do to get it done and what fit where ..so it went alot smoother .. i would work on it when the twins went in for thier nap and after fed em and put them to bed at night so it took alot of late nights to get it this far ..

anyway here is a few new pictures from this week ..

after the motor was out and i was building the motor ryan and ray stopped by and pointed out a crack in the frame .. i didnt see it after pulling the steering box i couldnt believe how far it was ..

http://i680.photobucket.com/albums/vv170/wayne_l/crackedframe008.jpg

i had also completely broke the engine mount on the drivers side off the frame ..

http://i680.photobucket.com/albums/vv170/wayne_l/crackedframe005.jpg

as you can see it was also twisted .. the hole in the frame was rust behind the stock link bracket that i cut off a while ago guess the frame was really thin and fell thru ..

http://i680.photobucket.com/albums/vv170/wayne_l/crackedframe009.jpg

so i plated the whole frame after trying to get it square again .. but i had to make some metal that i could weld to 1st ..

came out pretty nice ..

http://i680.photobucket.com/albums/vv170/wayne_l/truckpicsalmostdonemarch2010010.jpg

the motor went in pretty smooth now that i have done it before ..i knew what i needed to make it fit ..

http://i680.photobucket.com/albums/vv170/wayne_l/truckpicsalmostdonemarch2010008.jpg

http://i680.photobucket.com/albums/vv170/wayne_l/truckpicsalmostdonemarch2010009.jpg

she sits much better with the axle foward ..but im getting some whine from the front driveline i think its binding at the tcase .. its a steep drop even with a cv ..

got her running good , and let her idle at 2500 rpm for 20 minutes to break in the cam ..i had no smoke or spike in temp or oil pressure so thats a good sign ..

to say she has some nuts on the bottom end is a under statement in this little truck ..

i was able run it for a bit getting her warmed up for the break in ..so i was able to play in the yard testing things out ..

i rebuilt the doubld cardian joint and clearenced it for more travel ..so far so good no more binding ..

also installed the new tranny mount from trail gear .. adjusted the ebrake on the tcase and installed the master cyl and brake booster ..
