Is it going on the truck in your avatar?

Shackle flip in the rear will net you 4" for free/cheap.

i wash i hadnt spent the money on my "lift kit" i ended up practicaly ditching it... do a shackle flip in the rear that should get u 4-6 inches and then maybe an add a leaf. im sure about the front in that truck is it leaf or coils?:out:

Those TTB dana 50 front ends on those trucks are a PITA to lift and do it right. They are basically a fucked up IFS system, so there are a bunch of brakets you need to do it right. You can put more leafs in the pack but then that will start effecting you caster and hadling will go down the toilet. Best thing I can say is buy a lift kit for that truck if you want to drive it down the Hwy. Worst part about the whole thing is you will have to start over when you get a D60.

:iagree:... mostly

As long as it has leafs up front, and you plan on staying that way... get some lift springs. You'll need the bracket in the middle to compensate for the lift, and be prepared, bushings (Ball joints, etc..) won't last long this way.

When you eventually go to a 60 up front, you'll still be able to use the lift springs, but will have no use for the drop brackets. I'd probably do the shackle flip as well, but get aftermarket shackles and mounts if you can afford it.

Talk to Nate about how to do this as cheaply as possible. (Autobody Concepts, 745-0616)

Think i'm just gonna order a lift kit at least the front of one anyway, and then do sky shackle flip and add a leaf in the rear. So there fore any suggestions of who to order through, don't really care about brand.
Oh yeah 6 inch.

Can I take it for a spin too :) I did let you drive it when I still owned it after all :)

IT's going to be a nice rig, You'll have fun with it. That 460 should last a lot longer. I hope that Tranny lives a long time for ya too.

how much is this lift kit going to cost? if it is 750 or more dont buy it, look for the dana60 instead then all you need to lift is springs and hook up some steering. no reason to drop too much on the lift kit if you can get a dana 60 for the same price. i might even have one for you if i find another tow rig.

preston79
03-22-2010, 03:27 PM
I'd like to do that. But two problems can't find any Dana 60s right now and i'm pretty sure the truck I have has 3.55s:31:.
I gotta clean the tag up a little more to be positive.

ryantowry_81
03-22-2010, 04:25 PM
yeah but if you can find a front dana 60 with 4.10's it would be really easy to find a sterling with 4.10s and then sell the 3.55's

Bronco85
03-22-2010, 04:53 PM
There's one that I bought from Tony.. Go take it... I will probably never remember to get it.. I think he said it had 4.10s

Buy this http://anchorage.craigslist.org/cto/1646177471.html
Put the running gear from it under my truck.
Then put the running gear from my truck back under the diesel.
Than sell diesel.

What do you guys think? How hard will it be to swap ttb? Whos gonna come help me for beer and pizza? LOL

Thanks Guys:cornut:

Its sitting in my backyard Preston. It needs rebuilt from the backing plates out though. 4.10 gears Sterling 10.25. It's actually the same rear end that is in Phillis's F250.

It would make no sense putting running gear back underneath it if the motor is junk. 1500 for that rig is a smoking deal (I'm surprised it's still around, I've seen that one and almost bought it).

Buy it, get your running gear, sell the tranny and anything else you can seperate to make some money back. I got 500 for the last e4od I sold...

Ill call and see what kinda deal I can get on the diesel. I guess i'd rather do it right the first time and it take a little longer.

ryantowry_81
03-23-2010, 11:02 AM
that is a good deal on the axles and i bet you could sell the tranny and the body parts and make alot of it back and maybe some of the motor parts like the alternator and starter and stuff to cover the beer...lol

putting a strait axle under a TTB is pretty strait forward as long as it is on leafs, which yours is, so it should not be that hard.

or do like i did on a toy and cut it in pieces that will fit in a truck bed and take it to scrap. just takes time.....

preston79
03-23-2010, 06:59 PM
Yeah could always do that. Ok so after I get these one tons on here order a full 6 inch lift kit for it or just do 6 inch spring for the front/ then 4 inch skackle flip for the rear + an add a leaf?

+ idea/dream 2 I would like to shorten the frame. Basic concept if im right cut frame re weld with plenty of guseting/braces then get new drive line?

ryantowry_81
03-23-2010, 07:26 PM
sounds about right, also bob the ned of the bed down would help alot even if you dont shorten the frame. cory did a good bob shortening his chevy, would not be too hard to do as long as you measure well

as for the lift i think the shackle flip rear would be easier and cheaper.

Alright so heres the build plan then.
1. Buy f350 with 1 tons and 4.10s swap axles
2. lift truck six inches suspension
(might also drop hangers down 2 inches while i'm down there)
3. Cut the frame down and either use a short bed or build flat bed.

Anybody got a money tree I can borrow?:39:
Nah, it'll just take me more time to do it this way but it'll be what I want the first time around I guess.

:29:

Whos down to help once I get all the parts rounded up?

:cheers2:

Ill start a build thread tommorow!

Update bought the 1ton 1000$:cornut:
Might be moving over to wasilly this weekend so prob wont start build till middle of next week.
I will be putting the dana 50 back under the 1 ton cause that truck is just to clean to throw away interior looks brand new!!!!
Think both truks have the same gear ratio so will just have to swap one axle:hurray:.
Just gonna do the axle swap for now lift will come in a couple weeks.

So hopefully next week I can buy you all some beer and we can start building me a truck:cheers2:

Oh yeah i have the whole month of april off so i'll have plenty of time to finish her but I would love to be wheeling first week of may finances permitting.
