I just purchased and installed a MaxBrake trailer controller on my tow rig. All I can say is this thing out performs the inertia driven controllers like, Techonsha, Drawtite, Prodigy's etc., etc. hands down. The control is so much better. Even smooth braking from the trailer, you calibrate it then forget it. It ties into your brake line on the truck and has a sensor that converts the brake pressure into electric current back to the trailer brakes. It is a little spendy but well worth the money if you tow heavy. When I am loaded up with gear and people for a long 3-5 day trip I am pushiing 24,000 GCVW and this will make it much safer and easier to control the load when going down the road. Install takes about 30 minutes.
If you buy through the website it will direct you to SouthWestWheels website, type in TURBODIESEL to get a 5% discount.

were you having problems with your existing brake controller? Also, 24k Lbs? :icon_bs:

yeah, constantly having to adjust it and always having the "jerky/sticky" trailer brakes to deal with, plus it would only work part of the time, 5 years old. This new unit is much smoother.
And no BS, I put the truck trailer and Buggy on the scales last Wednesday and we tipped it at 22,000lbs with me in it and no gear in the buggy. So add 1-2 people, extra fuel, lots of beers, camping gear, guns, etc, etc. last year my Eureka Trip had 4 adults and gear for 4 days, so yes pushing 24,000 lbs GVW!!! That was another reason I bought this unit because I am Towing HEAVY!

I see... including your tow rig. Thats a lot of weight. I don't think mine would be anywhere near that. However, I'd be curious to see what my whole setup weighs.. where did you weigh at... the dump off the P/W Hway? Did they charge you?

No tripple A gravel off Trunk Rd, I bought a bunch of material from them last year for my project I was running in Sutton, so the owner said just come by anytime. Most gravel pits wont charge you if they are not busy. This is a great time of year when weight restrictions are on.
