Buffalo Mine 5/15-5/16

Ok well I guess I am going to start the thread since I believe I am the first one back. Was outstanding weather for a trip and the Jeep's first run...and oh what a run. The trail is nasty, muddy, and rutted. There has been some tree cutting back there as well since last summer. ALOT of rigs showed up. I am sure someone will let em know if I miss some one.

TonyM, akwheelin78, TRLR8DXJ, and Wayne headed up the trail early and the second group got to the trail head late @430 or so. Prior to even making it to the trail head I blew the starter solenoid I was using as a relay for my electric fan and had to hove it just wired hot, kind of a pain always having to connect and disconnect it ...but it worked. The real fun began about 1/4 mile in on the trail (If that) where Ben in his XJ bent his tie rod and broke a short side axle shaft:47: in a nice little hole. Nate in his XJ was able to go around and the Dodge had to get pulled through at the end of it.

We have a new name for this spot..The "Dan Hole". Same spot that took out Dans Tranny last year is now the same spot the water logged his motor:smilielol5:

These are mostly from today. Great weather for camping, it was sunny all day, and all sunday as well for the most part.

Jesse and wife, Mike and wife, Dan, Nate and Bill, Junior, and myself all camped on the Mt. This morning, Dan was trying a hill climb and blew his front drive line up. Not 60 feet later, he tries to weelie his truck over a ledge in the trail, and almost winds up in a small creek, off a steep ledge on the trail. While he was airborne, he somehow managed to break off his sector shaft on his steering box.

So. We goat with that for a while, and decide we need to get parts. We decide to leave Dan and the Fodge on the trail, and the rest of us went off the mt. As we were getting ready to leave, Jesse's rig would not start. Bad starter. We replaced his with a spare I had and we all hit the trail and made it off with no issue. I waited at the trail head for Bill to bring back parts for Dan.

While I was waiting, Chris, Uncle John, and a few friends showed up, and they decided to run up the hill with us. They hung out and helped button Dans rig back together, and without major incident, we headed off the trail. We made it back to the trail head about 8PM...l:mad2:

Well, the new rig got her Maiden Voyage under her belt:party: I am extremely happy with how it performed. Ride quality, shifting, traction, and steering. I have an adjustment that needs to be made on my range box to shift from low range to high range, but thats a Minor fix. I started the day out with the early group Tony, Wayne and I soon after to be joined by Jesse and his wife. We made it to the 2nd platue and decieded to wait for the rest of the group. Once there, we found out that the 2nd group barely made it a 1/4 mile up the trail before carnage began. JPSFRI Lost a front axle shaft and bent a tierod. Once that was repaired the group proceeded to the first real mud hole where Dan with the Fodge gave it the good 'ol 1 2 and lawn darted the truck into the hole instantly hydro locking the motor. So after the fodge was pulled from the hole for a little tinkering the group split again. Some with Dan to help tinker and other headed up to set up camp. I decieded to go with the camping group instantly to find one of my hydro steer lines that I had shortened by Alaska Rubber was not properly crimped and blew off so I lost all power steering. Which meant my day was over:mad2: So my wife and I headed back to the truck to load up. And never again will I go in a trip with out spare hoses and line caps atleast to get some power steering back. We left at 7:00 pm and wish we could have stayed longer. It was great to see everyone and meet a few new faces. Can't wait to do it again!
