Gunsight/Alfred Crk July 1st thru 4th ?

What is everyones plans for the 4th? I would like to set the date for our yearly camping trip. Every other year we have made it a Fri,Sat,Sun thing but this year I would like to have 2 full days in camp. We would be leaving up the Glen Hwy around 9:30-10ish on the 1st and returning the 4th in the evening. Camp is 12 fairly easy miles in. Water depth should be the only real factor... Ideas?...Input?...

if i can talk the wife into it and get my trailer going i might be able to make it too. i have always wanted to check out gunsite.

As far as I know its only Tony, Jesse, Nate and Bill. I found out the other weekend when I went up there for the day that all of Alfred Crk to Caribou Crk is staked mining claims they have signs posted all down the trail now. A few people that noremaly bring there kids prob wont go if we cant even look for fossils. The trail on thru the canyon to caribou crk may be passable. I will be taking the wheelers, the Bronco needs work... Maybe not all four days?

remember alsaka mineing law states that anybody can go thru any mineing claim, they only have mineral rights for what type of claim there staking, i have a few claims and people go over them all the time, dont let them push you around up there, there have been some real assholes up there telling people to get off there land, but its not there land.

yeah my inlaws are in town for the 4th so i am out, i really wish i could go though sounds like a fun trip!

Well, if you guys get bored at Gun Sight. I'll be camped out 2 miles past the Eureka Lodge in the gravel pit on the right. Camping with the family over the 4th and all on atv's. I wouldn't mind runnig with a few full size rigs

So far the head count has not changed much. As far as public rights to the claims, that has never been a prob. Every time that I have been down this trail I have seen nothing but smiles from other trail riders and the occupants of the active gold mine down that way. I just dont feel right turning over rocks on someone's claim without their say so. What do people think about a Fri,Sat,Sun?. If the country is what we want to see we should camp all 4 days up the Hwy in the gravel pits that others have mentioned...Those trails go way back and the little nelchina and little tyone should be low.
