George and his family, my wife and I, headed out to Boulder Creek for an easy weekend of wheeling and exploring the area a little bit.

All was going well until George broke his front drive shaft and t-case yoke, at the edge of the swamp. We continued on after calling for parts (Big thanks to Curtis and Josh for the midnight delivery of parts and rebuilding George's cardigan joint). While we were waiting for Curtis to get there, we decided to head up the creek bed. We got to the first main channel crossing... and it was deep. The bronco didn't have any problems with the water... but the jeep and side by side did not fair so well.

The ranger wound up swamped, and almost lost it down the creek. The jeep was too light to traverse the creek as well. We decided not to press on, and hooked up with another group of campers at Tarp City. We overnighted there. We fixed the rigs when Curtis and Josh showed up, and we decided to re-evaluate in the morning.

The following morning, we headed back up the creek bed... but again, the water was still too high for the Jeep and ranger. We wound up just heading to the lake thats at the half way point on the trail, and camped there for the night. I found out my chainsaw no longer worked, so that made wood gathering pretty lame.

The weather, however, was amazing all weekend. Monday morning it was easily 80* degrees out. I am burnt pretty good.

We packed up and headed out that afternoon with no incident.... until we got back to the trail head and were loading the ranger up into my truck, and George broke the rear window out with the winch hook :mad2:.

I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to explore the area I wanted to, but had a great time otherwise. The food was good, the weather was great. Definatly heading back up soon to finish the mission...lol

Pictures to come. :17:

Well like Tony said great trip other than the minor hic ups. The Jeep did great except the little break. Thank you again goes out to Curtis and Josh for the running of parts and repairs. I can not believe the Yoke on the t-case broke:frown2: the u-joints were still intact though lol. My wife took the river crossing like a champ even when she started to float down stream. I did discover a snorkel on a Jeep is great but nothing for being pushed down stream while crossing the water:biggrinjester:
