Just in case anyone was wondering how they can use google earth without an internet connection.
Google earth automatically caches up to 2gb of data, and saves it for use while offline. What this means is that, if you view the area you are interested in, you can take your laptop (Or as in my case, my HP mini), and bring it on the trail with you, and keep details about where you are heading. You can also inlay garmin tracks from Mapsource software (and others) directly into google earth.
Having the ability to do this on the trail, real time, while you are out there, makes navigating areas you may not be furmiliar with much easier....
And now you know... and knowing is half the battle.... :cheers2:
