So it looks like DORC is pretty much no more.... and I keep getting all sorts of Emails and PMs about starting another one.... which I WILL NOT do.
But that does not mean someone else shouldn't.
There are a lot of wheelers out here that are looking for some kind of umbrella to fall under, and our website has been a half ass version of that... with no real affiliation of any kind, except for being based in the valley. There are plenty of people who are capable of starting something one up, it just takes a little bit of leadership, ambition, and a few hundred dollars....lol
We (MSOHV) have made some relationships with members who specialize in graphics, screen printing, etc. So the sticker and paraphernalia side of it would be cake (Which we all know is the most important part :14:).
Right now seems like a prime time for someone to take the reigns on this, and get some kind of something "Official" together. As you all know, DOR had great potential, and if it wasn't for ill advised bone headedness in the leadership roll over there, I believe it would be the premier organization for offroad enthusiasts IN THE STATE.
There are some initial costs involved in getting one of these things started... but it isn't much. For example, you'll need a license. Starting off with a "Business License" is the easiest way to get the thing off the ground. This will give you an official "Name" to operate under. You can open a bank account, etc.
You'll need a place to organize and assemble. This typically done with a website. Websites are easy... it's the Forums that can be tricky if you decide to go that way. I would be willing to host a club section on this site, or help anyone get started who wants to make there own.
This is a great time of year to get the framework going for something like this, if anyone is ambitious enough to actually move forward with it. I will help in any way I can, and will offer my website as a platform for an online hub.
Some of us discussed starting something in the past, but the logistics were just too cumbersome given the nature of this website.
The bottom line is if someone really wants to do it... do it. There are plenty of people who would get involved once someone actually got the ball rolling.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
